Vodafone introduces unique number for Ebola; Cholera

download (5)In line with its pledge to contribute to improved healthcare delivery in the country, Telecom giant, Vodafone Ghana has unveiled a unique number that will help educate the general public on Ebola, Cholera and other health conditions.

The number “0 50 50 50 500” can be accessed across all networks and it is routed to the Medical Call Center, which will provide relevant information on the diseases.

The Medical Call Centre is accessible between 4pm and 10pm every day. At the other end of the line is a medical team, which will provide answers to questions on Ebola and Cholera.

The Head of External Affairs for Vodafone Ghana, Gayheart Mensah, said: “This initiative is to support the Ghana Health Service’s public campaign to educate members of the public on how to prevent an Ebola outbreak, which has spread to other West African nations, including Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria.

“This is one of the platforms we are using to engage Ghanaians, and provide education to them on the disease. We believe that the general public will benefit a lot from this initiative,” he added.

Mr. Mensah said Vodafone will continue to deploy communication solutions to bring about positive social change in the country.

Vodafone customers can dial 255 for the same service – public education on Ebola and Cholera – and also for expert medical advice on any other health issues, for only 1 pesewa per minute.
