Vivo Energy outdoors Shell fuelsave-branded trucks

Vivo Energy Ghana, marketer of shell products, in partnership with J.K. Horgle Transport Limited has out-doored 10 new shell Fuelsave-branded trucks at Tema to enhance visibility of its most advanced economy fuel, Shell Fuelsave.

Newly-branded trucks are mainly for the transportation of shell Fuelsave, to demonstrate the importance Vivo Energy and J.K. Horgle Transport Limited attach to road safety.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Shell Fuelsave-branded trucks, Executive Vice President, Supply and Marketing, Vivo Energy Group, David Mureithi,  indicated that its transport forms a core part of operations in order to ensure that every Ghanaian receives their products.

“We want our customers to see the Shell Fuelsave brand daily as we transport our products safely across the country; this will serve as a brand recall and a reminder that the best choice for a long-lasting fuel can only be shell Fuelsave”.

He said over 35 trucks have already been branded among three transporters, and there are plans to cover about 50% of the fleet by end of the year.

“Vivo Energy is built on strong health, safety, security, and environment (HSSE) standards, and being the best in HSSE in Africa is not an objective that sits apart from our overall ambitions, but rather an interval and essential part of the business plan.”

Talking about ‘Goal Zero’ is one of the most important aspects of Vivo Energy, which is to ensure that in all their operations they do no harm to people and the environment, but ensure total safety.

“These new Fuelsave trucks will also contribute to achieving our ‘Goal Zero’, as we continue working closely with our road transport contractors to ensure strict adherence to our safety policies and standards governing transportation of products.”

However, they have attained their ‘Goal Zero’ in 2,452 days — which is 7 years, 103 days — and therefore he promised Vivo Energy will continue to attain the goal in another seven years and even more.

David Mureithi noted Vivo Energy will continue building the capacity of all its transporters to maintain the record as best in the industry, doing 7,662,088 kilometres to deliver 570,000,000 litres of product to its cherished customers in 2014 without any transport accident or spills.

He commended  and congratulated the transporters for their sterling performance by scoring high in the Shell Global Haulier’s assessment programme, “designed to ensure that the risk in our transport business are properly controlled”.

However, Vivo Energy Ghana — to further demonstrate the importance it attaches to road safety — is collaborating with some banks to support its transporters in replacing most of their vehicles this year: in line with the company’s Tristan policy of vehicle replacement this year.

He acknowledged the National Road Safety Commission of Ghana for its recent ranking by the Economic Commissioner of Africa as the first among 23 countries in Africa for good road safety performance.

Vivo Energy is grateful to Ghanaian motorists for embracing Shell Fuelsave after its launch in April this year. “Since the launch of Shell Fuelsave, Vivo Energy has been extremely excited about the positive response from Ghanaians for their impressive patronage of the Shell Fuelsave and continuing to testify the long-lasting and quality benefits of the product,” he stated.

Shell Fuelsave is designed with an active efficiency ingredient to help improve fuel efficiency, from the very first tank at no extra cost. Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana Ebenezer Faulkner described the company’s drivers as Class A drivers, and congratulated them for attaining the highest goal in safety; urging them to continue their great performance focusing mostly on safety standards and their ‘Goal Zero’.

Chief Executive Officer of J.K. Horgle Transport Limited, Joseph K. Horgle, said their drivers recording no accidents for over 7 years without fatalities, injuries, major spills, fires, and preventable road transport accidents was as a result of the intensive but regular training they go through. They give them the necessary training or tit-bits of safety on the road, making them not just any drivers but professionals.
