Unicorn Air breaks into aviation market

After undergoing certification for the Air Operators Certificate, Unicorn Air Chartered Services, a subsidiary of UHI Holdings, has received the green light from the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to begin commercial operations in the country.

The Airline, which will begin its operations with one HS-125 800XP aircraft, will provide chartered air travel services.

“You don’t need to be time bound. As and when you want to travel, when you contact us within the next 20 minutes, we will make the aircraft available for you,” CEO of the Airline, George Afful stated.

The airline operator would also offer ancillary adhoc services such as medical evacuation, sports charter, and business executive charter among others.

It has been licensed to ply both local and international routes.

Mr. Afful disclosed that the Airline had entered into partnership with foreign airline operators to supply them with more aircrafts as the business progresses; envisioning the fleet doubling in the next three years.

He assured that their services will be affordable explaining that “affordability comes with convenience and so if you want to have any business meeting anywhere and you can call us and in the next 20 minutes, an aircraft is ready for you, I think it should be affordable.”

Acting Director General of the GCAA, Abdulai Alhassan cautioned the company to abide by the terms and conditions of the agreement as the license did not come on a “silver platter”.
