Tropical Cable wins top AGI award

Locally owned Tropical Cables and Conductors limited has been adjudged as the overall best industrial company for 2016.

The company picked the ultimate award after beating off competition from over thirty other industries.

In addition, Tropical Cable and conductors picked the award for the best company in electricals and electronics.

Pharmaceutical company, Dannex picked two awards for fastest growing company of the year and best pharmaceuticals company.

Also, Ecobank Ghana was adjudged the best financial company with Total Petroleum and Kempinski Hotel picking the gold for National Best Quality awards and best company in hospitality and tourism, respectively.

Auditing firm, PwC picked the best company business promotion and consultancy while Blue Skies picked best company for food category.

Speaking at the event, President Akufo Addo assured businesses that the 2018 budget will outline a review mechanism for commercial users of electricity.

The relative high cost of electricity could perhaps qualify as the bane of businesses in Ghana.

But according to the President, this is among the numerous interventions to relieve the plight of industry and grow the subsector.

Meanwhile the one district one factory program is also scaling up by at least 190 companies soon.

This means about 41% of the total proposals have been cleared for takeoff.

In all, some twenty-eight companies picked various awards for their outstanding performances under about thirty categories.
