Surfline to commence business in the Western Region

Surfline Communications, a wholly owned Ghanaian telecommunication company, which used to provide internet services to consumers and businesses in Accra and Tema only, has decided to extend its operations to the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolitan area in the Western Region in the coming months.

The company has given the assurance that with the power of its technology, it will support businesses, government agencies as well as health and educational institutions to increase their operational efficiencies and explore new possibilities in the region.

Surfline, which obtained a licence from the National Communications Authority (NCA) in 2011 as Ghana’s first 4G LTE, has since offered mobile broadband wireless internet service experience to individuals and businesses in the Greater Accra Region and has now decided to move into the oil city of Sekondi-Takoradi and shortly to the Ashanti Region.

Mr Edwin Amoako, the Branding and Communication Manager of Surfline, disclosed the intention of management of the company when he led a six-member team to pay separate courtesy calls on the Deputy Regional Minster, Mr Alfred Ekow Gyan, and the Omanhene of the Essikado Traditional Area, Nana Kobina Nketsia V.

Operational office

He indicated that being a Ghanaian brand with a deep appreciation of tradition and custom, the company was engaging local authorities to discuss its plans to officially launch its activities in the metropolis and added that an operational office had already been acquired as a first step to begin business in Takoradi.

Mr Amoako gave the assurance that ‘‘Surfline’s services in Takoradi will focus on redefining internet service experience of customers within the region. With our reliable network, we guarantee customers speeds up to 10 times faster than what they currently enjoy.’’

He said driven by the vision to transform internet service delivery in Ghana, Surfline prides itself in providing its customers with unrivalled mobile internet service connectivity with tangible attributes such as speed, reliability and superior customer support services.

The Deputy Regional Minster advised the management of the company to discharge its obligations and commitments to the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) as far as business was concerned so it can operate freely.

STMA by-laws

He also urged them to abide by the assembly’s by-laws, maintain high operational standards and be attractive to their prospective customers, adding that there was competition in the system already which they would have to contend with.

Nana Nketsia commended the company for choosing to operate in the metropolis and the fact that it was wholly a Ghanaian-owned entity, saying as young employees, it was incumbent on them to ensure the sustenance of the company.

The Omanhene noted that gone were those days when young graduates always relied on the government to provide them with job opportunities and encouraged the young ones to endeavour to think about what they would want to do after school and work towards achieving their set goals.

He called for unity among the group so that the company would not collapse after a short period of existence, adding that Ghana needed political stability and that should be the concern of all.
