Power crisis will soon improve- ECG

Public Relations Manager of the Electricity Company of Ghana, William Boateng has indicated that the ongoing power rationing exercise will soon improve.

According to him, some ongoing projects in the sector are expected to be completed by the close of March and will afterward be added to the national grid.

“We do not want to make any projections. However, immediately there is an improvement in the generation, which we are expecting very soon, consumers will begin to see the results in terms of relatively stable power supply,” he said.

Mr. Boateng disclosed that an average of between 400-500 megawatts of power is currently being shed and the 24-hour blackout and 12-hour light is in place.

Some consumers have been complaining of longer hours of blackouts and the failure of the ECG to strictly adhere to the load shedding time table prompting a group called Alliance for Young Entrepreneurs (AYE) to issue a threat to sue them by close of this week.
