Pfortner IT Security Solution targets blue-chip businesses.

slogoNet Solutions Ghana, in partnership with equipment manufacturer, Pfortner, and Tri-continental UK has launched a world class security product, in Accra, that seeks to curb security breaches of blue-chip businesses.

Increasingly, top-notch organisations are becoming targets of security breaches leading to significant financial losses of affected companies.

“The economy of Ghana, which is growing rapidly in recent times, will soon, if not already, become a target of the actors behind security breaches,” Net Solutions’ CEO, Dr Rashard said adding that the product, Pfortner IT security solution, is a unique solution that will significantly bolster the defences of financial institutions.

Mr Aubrey Swanepoel of Pfortner, at the launch explained that the product, which encrypts data, was targeted at businesses that have offices in bucolic or remote areas.

“The product provides secure redundant connectivity to banks, government departments, and anybody with local and remote offices in rural areas. It provides encryption across those bleeps to ensure that no one can intercept their data.

“Because it provides redundancy in communication, if one mobile operator goes down another operator’ network can be used thereby making it really highly available with the benefit of better service delivery,” he said.

Mr. Amponsah of the Controller Accountant Generals Department commended the product describing it as expedient as the department was currently dealing with projects, which contained a lot of vital information, online.

“We have this Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information Systems that brings together budget planning, budget development, financial reporting and all other resources including the management of our payroll integrated into one system.

“As we go into this direction, the issue of security becomes very challenging. We have developed a system that enables all the people on the Government of Ghana payroll to be able to assess their payslips,” Amponsah said.

He noted that whatever the Controller and Accountant General Department does has great impact, since it is linked to all government institutions, including, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), the Bank of Ghana, and the Ministry of Finance.
