Patrick Awuah named among 50 of the world’s greatest leaders

Founder and President of Ashesi University, Dr Patrick Awuah has been named among the 50 world’s greatest leaders for the year 2015 by Fortune Magazine.

According to the magazine, Dr Awuah is now part of a list of extraordinary men and women who are transforming business, government, and philanthropy among others.

He was named the 40th best leader in the world for his exemplary work in higher education, joining a prestigious list that includes Pope Francis, Chinese Premier Xi Jinping, Bill and Melinda Gates, Apple CEO Tim Cook as well as Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg.

The criteria for entry onto the celebrated list required people, not only to be brilliant, admirable or even supremely powerful, but also have the vision to move others to act as well- and who brought their followers with them on a shared quest.

The magazine looked for effectiveness and commitment and for the courage to pioneer, and all the people on the list had to be active in leadership roles; a long history of leading being something that many on its list share.
