Nominations for the 3rd UT Ghana Entrepreneur Awards announced in Accra.

Nominations for the 3rd UT Ghana Entrepreneur Awards have been announced in Accra.

The event, to be held at the Banquet Hall, State House on the 4th of May 2013, is an initiative of the Enterpreneurs Foundation of Ghana in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development with lead sponsorship for UT Bank, one of the country’s leading banks.

The awards are meant to recognise the efforts of players in the Ghanaian business community for their efforts in building the local economy and spurring job creation.

The Entrepreneur Foundation of Ghana, founded by Sam Ato Gaisie is a non-profit organisation that seeks to support the growth of entrepreneurship in the country through networking, advocacy and capacity building among others.

The awards are open to all entrepreneurs, Ghanaian or non-Ghanaian, who have been leading their organisations for over three years with demonstrable improvements in size, market share, sales and increase in growth.

The judging panel who will make the final selection from among the nominees will be looking our for entrepreneurial spirit vision and innovation, financial performance and growth, personal intergrity and commitment, strategic and marketing involvement and proven involvement in corporate social responsibility.

Some of the awards that will be given out include Best Entrepreneur, Lifetime Entrepreneur Achievement, Outstanding Entrepreneur, Young Entrepreneur, Most Promising Entrepreneur, Serial Entrepreneur as well as Best Entrepreneur awards for the various sectors including manufacturing, financial services, Automotive, Property and Real Estate, Telecommunications among others. Overall, some thirty awards will be presented.

This year’s nominees include Kofi Mangesi, Chief Executive Officer of Business World who is up for the Best Entrepreneur, Print Media award. Business World has already been named as the 2012 Magazine of the Year by the Institute of Financial Journalists and this will go to further confirm the magazine’s preeminence in its field.

The 2012  UT Ghana Entrepreneur Awards is the third in the series which have so far honoured some of the heavyweights in Ghanaian business including Prince Kofi Amoabeng, CEO of UT Bank and Dr Joseph Agyepong, CEO of Zoomlion who won Overall Best Entrepreneur in the 2010 and 2011 respectively.
