Images of new currency denominations that have been circulating on social media is nothing but a school project.
A graphic and web design graduate of IPMC, an IT training institution, Holison Adiku said the design was adjudged the best in his class.
Holison who now works as a professional photographer said the photos were widely shared on social media after he posted it as a throw-back Thursday picture.
“Last Thursday, I did a ‘Throw Back Thursday’, since people now know me as a photographer and no more a graphic designer and posted the works with the following hashtags: #Tbt #Ipmc #Project #work #2011.”
“I even posted them on my business page,” he told ghanabusinessnews.com.
The photos were widely shared on Facebook with suggestions that the government was printing new cedi notes in GH¢30, GH¢100 and GH¢200 denominations but the Bank of Ghana, in a statement rubbished the claims.
Adiku said he was initially scared he would be invited by the police over the designs, but a friend convinced him he has done nothing wrong.
He said it was regrettable that the designs of the imaginary cedi denominations took a political twist following its circulation on Whatsapp and Facebook.
