Komenda Sugar factory begins production

 

The Komenda factory, which was inaugurated almost a month ago has begun production of sugar for the local market.

Mr. Ricketts Hagan, Central Regional Minister made this known during Government for the People forum in cape coast on Monday.

According to the Minister, the factory had begun bagging its first sugar meant for consumption. As an evidence, two containers of sugar produced from the factory were shown to participants in the forum.

The minister though could not  tell kilograms of sugar to be produced daily, but said bagged sugar from the factory would soon be on the market after all the tests and certification processes had been concluded.

Communications Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah who was also at the governance for the people forum  said the nearly 7, 000 jobs to be created by the factory would help change the lives of many people in the country

He added that, the government would surely work to reduce imports through industrilisation
