ITU Opens Nominations for ITU/UN Women 2016 GEM-TECH Awards

 

The Annual Gender Equality and Mainstreaming in Technology (GEM-TECH) Awards call for nominations has been opened.

The awards ceremony hosted by United Nations Agencies UN Women and ITU to celebrate personal and organizational achievements and also for innovative strategies aimed to advance Gender Equality and Mainstreaming in the area of ICTs to help redress the global gender gap.

The GEM-TECH Awards is the only international prizes of its kind aimed at providing a platform for advancing women’s meaningful engagement with ICTs and their role as decision makers and producers in the technology sector, and that create policies and investments that advance women’s digital equality.

The first edition of GEM-TECH Awards was successfully launched at ITU Plenipotentiary 2014, in Busan, Republic of Korea and celebrated 7 incredible inspiring winners as well as global achievers.

This year’s GEM-TECH Awards will be held at the Forum of Telecom World 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand, from the 14th – 17th of November.

You can nominate a deserving organization, individual or policy maker in any of the following categories:

  1. Apply Technology for Women’s Empowerment and Digital Inclusion
  2. Promote Women in the Technology Sector
  3. Develop Gender Responsive ICT Governance , Policy and Access
