GRA locks up offices of Africa Automobile

The Ghana Revenue Authority has locked up the offices of Africa Automobile Company over defaulting of taxes.

The Hyundai cars distributor owes the Authority six million cedis in taxes, an amount that has accrued over two years.

The latest development is part of a distress action exercise embarked by the GRA today.

The special exercise is aimed at collecting outstanding debts from recalcitrant customers of the service.

As part of the exercise, the GRA and personnel from the Police Service will pay unannounced visits to establishments and lock up the premises of defaulting customers.

Meanwhile after several months of tussle, another defaulter, Databank Asset Management today made a payment of 800m cedis out of an amount of 1.6m it owed the GRA.
