Electricity tariffs to go up from October 1

Ghanaians should get ready to pay more for electricity come October 1st.

This is according to a press release from the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC).

According to the Commission, the decision was reached after a careful consideration of all factors that form the basis of the Automatic Adjustment Formula.

Electricity and water tariffs have thus gone up by 6.54% and 4.54% respectively.

The water tariff increment has however been put on hold.

“… because of the poor quality of water service delivery being meted out by the Ghana Water Company, the Commission has decided not to pass on the Tariff for water until such a time that certain Regulatory requirements that protect the consumer are met.”
