Barclays Ghana Named ‘Best Bank’ At Euromoney Awards

Barclays Bank Ghana emerged as Ghana’s Best Bank at the prestigious 2018 Euromoney Awards for Excellence ceremony held in London, during which the world’s best banks were named.

In an interview with the Managing Director, Patience Akyianu, she emphasized, “the key strengths for our Bank’s great performance has been the people; a skilled and competent leadership team and a committed and highly engaged workforce”.

The Euromoney’s Awards for Excellence is a scheme that matters to banks and the global financial markets. It was established in 1992 and was the first of its kind in the global banking industry.

This year’s Euromoney received almost 1,500 submissions in the awards programme that covered 20 global awards, more than 50 regional awards, and best bank awards in close to 100 countries.

In 2014, Barclays Bank was named Best Bank in Ghana by Euromoney, making it the second in four years.

Barclays Ghana is the currently the most profitable bank in the country, as of the end of the 2017 financial year.

The bank is part of the newly rebranded Absa Group Limited (formerly Barclays Africa Group Limited) and is preparing to rebrand as Absa by June 2020.

The new bold strategy associated with the new Absa brand prioritizes growth, innovation, digital leadership, strong focus on customers and being a force for good in society.

This is expected to help build a forward-looking African business with global scalability that Ghana and Africa will be proud.
