Apple Watch Edition buyers to get first class treatment

Those interested in buying a gold, $10,000-plus Apple Watch Edition won’t have to wait in line or get elbowed and pushed while they try out the wares in an Apple Store.

According to a report by 9to5Mac, Apple Watch Edition buyers will get a unique purchasing experience — they’ll be able to skip queues, and a dedicated Expert will take them on a personalized shopping “journey”, which could last up to one hour.

One of the most interesting perks of this shopping experience will be the ability to try the Edition in a private area inside the Apple Store. However, to reduce risk of theft, customers will be able to try out only two watches at once.

Buyers will also be able to learn about the Apple Watch by video conferencing with an Apple Store employee from their home. This option will be available for buyers of both Apple Watch Edition and the stainless steel variant, but not the Sport version. Edition buyers, however, will get access to an exclusive phone line offering technical support round the clock for two years after purchase.

According to the report, the Apple Watch Edition will only be available in Apple’s largest markets at first, after which it will be gradually rolling out to other Apple stores.

9to5Mac also shared details about an upcoming Apple Store redesign ahead of the Apple Watch launch.

The buying process for the Watch will differ from Apple’s norms and will include a “magical” display case — essentially a table full of Apple Watches running a demo loop — and a try-on area, where customers will be able to try the different models on their wrist. Apple Watch is slated to hit Apple Stores on April 24.

It will be available in three basic variants: the regular, stainless-steel version, the aluminum Apple Watch Sport and the gold Apple Watch Edition. Prices range from $349 for the most basic, 38mm-sized Apple Watch to $10,000-plus for an Apple Watch Edition.
