Anti-terror app launched in France ahead of Euro 2016

With few days to Euro 2016 tournament, French government has launched a smartphone app that will keep football fans and citizens informed of potential attack and how to stay safe during the tournament.

The app, called SAIP (Système d’alerte et d’information des populations) is a free app on iOS and android, available in French and English. It will use phone location services to deliver information tailored to each user’s location, with alerts appearing in a shortest time. User can possibly view alerts at eight different locations, and share such alerts on social media.

This is in response to the France terror attack in November 2015, coupled with warning from officials in France and other countries that the tournament may be a target for another terrorist attacks.

Britain this week cautioned fans traveling to France for the tournament that stadiums, fan zones and transport hubs were “potential targets for terrorist attacks”, echoing warnings from French intelligence agencies and the United States.
