Anthony Jordan Retires As MD Of Republic Bank Ghana; New Leader Appointed

Mr. Anthony Jordan currently Managing Director of Republic Bank (Ghana) Ltd will retire from the Bank on April 17, 2019, after a distinguished career spanning over thirty-five (35) years of service.

He started work in Ghana in 2015, coming from Trinidad and Tobago.

Mr. Farid Antar, has been appointed Managing Director of Republic Bank (Ghana) Ltd, effective April 17, 2019 to replace Mr. Jordan, subject to approval of Bank of Ghana.

“Farid is currently the General Manager, Group Enterprise Risk, a position he has held since 2017”, a statement copied to Citi Business News said, adding that “he is also the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of Republic Financial Holdings Limited”.

His current portfolio includes leadership of the Operational Risk and Portfolio Management functions, and he previously had responsibility for the Bank’s Premises Management and Administration functions as part of a wider portfolio.

Mr. Antar is an experienced and highly respected banker with over 39 years of outstanding service in the banking industry in Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados.

Over his career with Republic Bank he has held senior leadership roles in marketing, administration, premises, branch operations, retail banking and credit.

In 2004 he was seconded to Republic Bank’s subsidiary in Barbados in the position of Senior Manager to lead the Bank’s Retail Banking portfolio.

While there he also managed the successful change over and implementation of a new core banking system at Republic Bank (Barbados) Limited (then Barbados National Bank), effectively managing external vendors and IT systems.

Farid is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and holds a Diploma in Banking from the Institute of Banking.  He is also a Columbia Business School alumnus having completed the university’s Executive Development programme in 2018.  Mr. Antar will relocate to Ghana from March 1, 2019.

Prior to his secondment to HFC, Anthony was the Assistant General Manager of the Corporate Business Centre (North) of Republic Bank Limited.

During his career he also led the Trade Finance Unit of Republic Bank and was responsible for trade facilitation and business generation in the Caribbean and South and Central America.

His banking knowledge and experience also cover investment banking, branch operations, retail credit and corporate credit risk.
