Airtel Ghana announces CSR advisory board

Following the adoption of a new policy aimed at helping it achieve its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals, Airtel Ghana has announced a newly appointed advisory board for its initiatives.

The advisory board is expected to provide strategic guidance on the company’s CSR vision, partnering strategy and technology innovations in CSR.

Philip Sowah- former MD of Airtel Ghana, Vicky Wireko-Andoh-Journalist and Public Relations consultant and former CEO of the Volta River Authority (VRA) Kweku Andoh Awotwi are members of the board.

The CSR Company of the Year is embracing the direction after research identified wide gaps in solving issues in the areas of health, education and youth development across Africa.

Speaking on the appointment, Managing Director of the telco giant, Lucy Quist expressed excitement saying, “As Airtel Ghana continues to increase brand recognition and rapid growth across the telecom industry, we are excited and honored to announce the formation of our Advisory Board. These distinguished individuals bring years of technical experience coupled with exceptional business expertise and they will be a valuable resource as Airtel Ghana’s CSR continues to make a positive difference in the lives of our people.”

Mrs Quist also added: “The role of the business sector is becoming increasingly critical. At Airtel we acknowledge the importance of addressing common societal problems because without communities, we cannot survive as a business. Improving the health and education of a people are key pillars of our strategy. The youth are also a critical part of our focus as they create sustainability of our value systems in Africa.”

Airtel Ghana’s CSR initiatives have won many prestigious awards this year including CSR Company of the Year at the Mobile Telecom Awards, CIMG Marketing Oriented Company of the Year and Brand Activation Program of the Year for Airtel Rising Stars as well as Bharti Change Maker Award – Gold Category.
