TAWIAH BEN-AHMED

When Metropolitan Life Insurance-unmatched in size, scale and scope and propelled by multi-billion dollar parent company, MMI Holdings of South Africa- tapped Ben-Ahmed as its Country Manager, it made him one of the youngest MDs in the industry in the country.

Ben-Ahmed, a decorated insurance professional, who’s held several positions for the past 13 years in the industry, started as sales person in his father’s company and subsequently worked in every department, on a salary he estimated to be 70 times less than his actual worth- at least judging by what he got in his first employment outside his father’s company.

Moving on into the industry, he rapidly rose through the ranks to become top man and has since driven the sterling transformation of couple of companies. The young workaholic- and ultimate optimist with an attitude od ever trusting in tomorrow delivering what today couldn’t, by being consistent and focused in one’s effort- is charged with driving the company’s efforts at capturing a commanding chunk of Ghana’s largely untapped life insurance market

  • He detested doling out freebies to able bodied peoplebur rather supporting them to get jobs to earn a living
  • He, in the space of three years, grew a struggling company with a premium of GHC0.131 million to GHC4.5 million
  • He commuted to work in public transport ‘tro tro’ under his father, even though there were seven cars in the home
