He has been political Assistant to NPP presidential candidate (now president) Nana Akufo-Addo, since 2008.

The former student activist and the founding president of the Tertiary Students Confederacy of the NPP (TESCON) has, since those days, acquired a wealth of experience in the corporate world as development planning, project management, and policy specialist.

Asenso-Boakye has over 15 years of wide-ranging experience in his field. Prior to joining the staff and campaign of Nana Akufo-Add0, he held positions at the Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare (MESW), Global Media Alliance (GMA), Delta Acquisition and Development, Delaware, USA, Michigan House of Representatives, Michigan, USA, Ghana Free Zone Board (GFZB) and Ghana Investment and Promotion Center (GIPC)

Asenso-Baokye also previously worked as a planning officre at GFZB where, as project manager for the Tema Export Processing Zone (TEPZ), he managed a $50 million World Bank finance-project for the provision of off-site infrastructure at the TPEZ, including a road network, water storage, drainage and sewage system.
