SICLife presents dividend to government

SICLife has presented a cheque for GH¢2,971,889.60 to the government as dividend for the year 2014.

Presenting the cheque yesterday at the Ministry of Finance in Accra, the Board Chairman of SICLife, Professor Joshua Yindenaba Abor, said the presentation was in fulfilment of a promise made the previous year by the company to work harder to increase productivity.

“Last year, we were here to present a cheque and promised to work harder and this year, thankfully, we have increased our bottom line by 33 per cent,” he said.

Prof. Abor indicated that the decision of the Controller and Accountant-General to increase the retention rate of premium paid from one to three per cent posed a challenge to the company.

 Commendation
A Deputy Minister of Finance, Mrs Mona Quartey, who received the cheque, commended the company for being a leader in the insurance industry.

“There is no doubt that SICLife is the leading life insurance company in the country,” she said, and commended the company for winning a number of awards.

Mrs Quartey said the government appreciated the investments and other support SICLife was offering on the market to keep it strong.

She indicated that the government was being careful with its debt management, explaining that debt servicing was one of the big issues after wages and salaries.
