The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has charged government to boost efforts in fixing the current power crisis.
The Union says the Mahama government’s current efforts has not yielded the required results.
Ghana has been experiencing energy crisis for the last three years with Ghanaians enduring intense load-shedding program by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
Many have expressed concerns over the situation while others have also protested to press home their demands for consistent power supply.
The situation has led to the loss of jobs and lives and the Industrial Commercial Workers (ICU) has predicted that over 3,000 jobs will be lost by the end of the year if government fails to rectify the problem.
The Secretary General of the TUC, Kofi Asamoah in an interview insisted government needs to resolve the power crises urgently to save the few industries that are struggling to survive.
“We are getting frustrated because even though we know government is making an effort, that effort is not bringing in the required solution that we need. We have been told that some workers have been laid off, some employers also indicating their determination to lay off. If this is not treated with the urgency that is needed it will lead some lay-offs and then it will really affect the economy. We need to double our efforts in finding solution to this ‘dumsor’,”he stated.

In spite of various concerns raised over the power crisis the President has expressed his commitment to offer a lasting solution to the challenge.
He is confident that the measures put in place by government will soon bring to a halt the power crisis.
President Mahama who made the remarks when he paid a working visit to the Accra Breweries Limited also stated that government has also made investments to ensure regular water supply
