Domestic airline passengers begin paying 17.5% VAT

Domestic air travellers will from July 1st, 2015 pay an additional 17.5% tax on every ticket purchased.

According to a statement signed by James Eric Antwi, CEO of AEROSURVEYS LTD, the new fares were a reflection of the “directive from GRA due to the enactment of the Value Added Tax Act 2013 (Act 870) which received presidential assent on 30th December, 2013”.

The statement was quick to add that aside from the 17.5% tax, actual airfares had not been increased.
