Access Bank receives ISO 9001:2008 certification

Access Bank Ghana has attained ISO certification following months of rigorous assessment. This certification exercise was carried out by SGS Ghana and accredited under United Kingdom Accreditation Scheme (UKAS).

The bank was awarded the certification after meeting requirements of the internationally respected Quality Management System (QMS) standards-measuring instrument ISO 9001:2008.

The implementation of ISO certification is an attestation that Access Bank has an effective Quality Management System (QMS) in place and is committed to ensuring continuous improvement of the Bank’s Quality Management Systems (QMS) and processes.

Apart from enhancing Access Bank’s image and giving it a competitive edge in the industry, the certification also reinforces the bank’s willingness and commitment in providing quality services and improving efficiency in line with international standards and best practice.

Areas of the bank’s operations reviewed as part of the certification process include its Corporate, Commercial, Personal and Business banking divisions, Branch Services, Corporate Counsel, Corporate Communications, Human Resources, Financial Control and Strategy, Treasury, General Resource Management and the 24/7 Customer Contact Centre.

Commenting on the ISO Certification, Managing Director of Access Bank, Mr. Dolapo Ogundimu said: “This is yet another step in our journey toward becoming Ghana’s Most Respected Bank. Besides ensuring that all our systems and processes are structured to deliver the best services to our customers at all times, it also shows the long-term commitment of our Board and Management to meeting internationally accepted standards regarding our banking operations here in Ghana”.

Mr. Ogundimu added: “Our customers can expect consistent and continuous improvement in our services as we are working in the best interests of all our stakeholders”.

For Access Bank employees, the process will help create an even better working environment, increasing job-satisfaction, understanding of customer requirements and quality issues; improving turnaround time and boosting morale.

The ISO certification, which is valid for a period of three years, is subject to satisfactory surveillance audits and will also be used as a quality management measuring tool. The tool will be used to evaluate Access Bank’s ability to resolve customer satisfaction issues and prescribe necessary remedies to ensure that their needs and expectations are consistently met and surpassed.

Founded on February 23, 1947, ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) is an international standards-setting body composed of representatives from various national standards organisations. It develops and promulgates standards which seek to ensure desirable characteristics of products and services: such as quality, environmental friendliness, safety, reliability, efficiency and interchangeability — all at an economical cost. It has its headquarters situated in Geneva, Switzerland.

Access Bank Ghana has over the past 6 years demonstrated a passion to deliver speedy and secured services to its customers, and this has earned it several recognitions — the most recent being ‘Bank of the Year’ at the 13th Ghana Banking Awards.
