15 local products to be inducted into Made in Ghana Hall of Fame

Fifteen renowned local products will be inducted into the prestigious Made in Ghana Hall of Fame at the third Made-in-Ghana Awards (MIGA) which is scheduled for October 30 at the State Banquet Hall in Accra.

Ten other products will be awarded with “Made-in-Ghana Products and Services of the Year” for their exceptional contribution to the development of the private sector in creating economic and social values.

The event, which is an initiative of the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFG) is being organised under the auspices of the ministries of Trade and Industry and Finance, with support from the Ghana Standards Authority.

This year’s edition is under the theme: “Nationalism, the key to social and economic development”.

President of EFG, Sam Ato-Gaisie, in an interview reiterated  that the awards is basically to honour locally made products and wholly-owned Ghanaian service industries that have exhibited excellence in premium products and service quality over several years.

“The awards is to create awareness, provide the boost to business profile and reputation as well as increase the credibility of products and services in both international and local markets.

“The key objective is to encourage Ghanaian consumers to patronise locally-made goods and also motivate local service industries to make significant improvements in service delivery, quality and innovation to meet international standards,” he said.

Mr. Gaisie said the consumer assessment criteria for the manufacturing industry selection was based on the basis of five parameters that demonstrate overall product premium quality, labelling, packaging, competitiveness and standard certification, offering a point for difference from competitors.

The assessment criteria for the service industry selection was also based on the basis of four parameters that demonstrate overall service quality, delivery, competitiveness and innovation.

Some categories at this year’s awards include “Made in Ghana Hall of Fame Products and Services”; “Products and Service Product of the Year”; and “Emerging Products and Services of the Year”.
